Milia
Milia is the medical term for those little hard white bumps that appear on the face, most often under the eyes. The skin is in a constant state of rejuvenation, with dead skin cells sloughing off. When dead skin cells are trapped beneath the skin’s surface, milia can form. These small, hard bumps are in reality, tiny cysts that have formed around dead skin cells that your skin could not shed naturally.
Secondary milia are similar, but the white bumps are caused by a skin condition or infection in which the skin was blistered, damaging the lining of the pores and trapping dead skin cells. Sun damage can also affect the functioning of the pores and the natural shedding of dead skin cells, resulting in clogged pores and leading to the appearance of milia.
Each person has varying numbers of milia, and in different areas of the face or body. These small white bumps are not dangerous, and do not involve any pain, but can be unattractive. Those who are tired of seeing this facial flaw can get it resolved through a customized treatment plan at Natural Radiance which may include topical products, chemical peels, or laser treatments.
