Sun Damage

Going to the beach to get some sun and fun is a favorite summertime activity for many. A moderate amount of sun exposure is actually good for your skin. Sunlight contributes to the production of Vitamin D, which is essential for the absorption of calcium in the body. Too much sun exposure, however, can lead to sun damage and photoaging.

Over time, the sun’s UV rays damage skin fibers called elastin. This causes wrinkling or sagging of the skin. Age spots also typically develop as a result of sun damage. Overexposure to the sun can also cause the formation of freckles and precancerous and cancerous skin lesions.

The good news is that sun damage is treatable and in some cases can be reversed with the right kind of sun damage treatment. You should consult with a qualified skin care specialist at Natural Radiance as soon as possible to prevent further damage to your skin and to avoid potential health problems that could result from overexposure to the sun, such as skin cancer.

Sun damage treatment options include chemical peels, RF microneedling, dermabrasion, intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy, photodynamic therapy, laser treatments and/or topical treatments that contain tretinoin.

Your skin deserves the best care and treatment, therefore you should exercise due diligence in selecting a qualified skin care specialist who has a solid track record and credentials. Check out different sun damaged skin treatments offered at Natural Radiance.
